The tool works without an account. The map and catalog can be used without accepting analytics.

Locations you check

Areas, landmarks and text are served from project files. When you place a point, the browser matches it with our polygons. We do not request device GPS location. Sharing puts coordinates in the link: anyone who receives it can see that point. Use an approximate location if you do not want to share an exact address.

Services needed for the map

OpenFreeMap supplies the basemap and receives requests needed to display it, including technical connection information. OpenStreetMap is a geographic data source. Fonts and the site photograph are hosted with the application.

Optional search and routes

Initial search uses the local catalog. If an address provider is enabled, text is sent to openrouteservice only when you request external search. A route sends the destination and airport reference to the provider. Opening Google Maps shares those points with Google in a new tab. This MVP has no database of users’ addresses.

Google Analytics

Analytics loads only after you accept analytics. We measure visits and events such as choosing an area, checking a location or requesting a route. We send area identifiers and action types, not typed addresses or pin coordinates. We remove URL and referrer parameters before sending page views. Advertising features are not enabled.

Your preferences

Your cookie choice is stored locally in this browser. Change it through the “Cookies” link at the foot of the explorer. Rejecting analytics does not prevent use of the site. Withdrawing consent stops new events and removes Analytics cookies accessible to the site; events already sent are not automatically deleted.

Technical logs

Web hosting and its providers may process technical request logs to operate and protect the service. Do not use search to enter personal information unrelated to the location you need to check.
